I reached 80,000 words on OUR LADY OF THE ISLANDS today, exactly coincidental with the end of Act II. So, despite what I feared a few weeks ago, it appears that I am now right on target with the outline/projected word count.
In the Department of Thank Goodness for Co-Authors, some WIP:
Arian slipped on board, tinkering with the sails [Jay to tidy up nautical details], which were neatly [tied up as they are]. She got the first one unfurled in time for Sian to jump onto the small vessel. “Here,” Arian said, handing over the [rope that you hold the sail with]. “Just hold onto that for now, till we get our direction.” […] Sian asked, wrapping the end of the rope around a [fixed thing] while she found her footing, then unwrapping the [other smaller sail]. The boat juddered a bit against the wooden dock, then found its passage, edging out of the slip and into the [water part that isn’t yet open bay].
Ahem. I suppose I could look all that stuff up, but why? Anyway, he needs to feel useful. 🙂
It’s been a fun and busy weekend. Yesterday I got in a small bit of word count, then went out and had something of a retail frenzy. First to my PO box, where I found that the corset I’d ordered (thanks Cherie Priest!) from Damsel in This Dress had arrived (it is utterly gorgeous but alas, too large). Then on to Borderlands where I bought most of that whole pile of books I showed you yesterday; and THEN on to my favorite antique furniture store, which was having a half-off sale. I bought a large bureau/glassfront bookcase that I have absolutely no room for, but it was so beautiful and so affordable and so EXACTLY right, I couldn’t help it. (Photos will come after it’s delivered Tuesday.)
From there, it was off to feed doctodd’s cats; then an evening with the Head Zombie and the President of Glyptotronics at Writers with Drinks. Home very late. Busy witch!
