You all know how much I hate flying. How I keep getting delayed, and bitching and moaning about how it would be quicker and far more pleasant to drive…
So this time I’m going to drive.
This week’s schedule is as follows: tomorrow I work; Wednesday will be packing, lunch with a friend, various errands, and Routine Witch Maintenance and Beautification; and Thursday morning at the crack of OMG, I’m getting up and driving to Portland.
Whereupon on Friday we light out (with zellandyne) to David Levine’s writing retreat on the coast, where the interweb access is promised to be nonexistent. 🙂 So I will get lots of word count done. Then after the weekend, a return to Portland, where I will hang out, writing and NOT WORKING, all week (yay!!!). The following weekend is Foolscap, in Seattle. Then I’ll drive home after that.
I know, sounds great, huh?
I’m excited to do that drive, though I’ll admit, I’ve never driven nearly that far, by myself, all at once. (I’ve been on road trips, but not as the only driver.) I think it’ll be fantastic, and it will be great to have the Witchmobile with me… but yeah, that will be a long day!
And don’t worry about the orchids, left behind for so long. They have their own wards of protection and self-defense, of course; and I’ve also recruited a cadre of gremlins to watch over the Witchnest in my absence. And other than the weekend at the coast, I should be reachable on the interwebs. And writing a lot!
I can’t wait. Wish I was going now. 🙂
