I got to the hospital earlier today and spent a nice long day with Jay. He’s doing so incredibly well, it’s ridiculous. He spent the whole day out of bed until 4pm–either sitting up in his chair, walking around the ward, or standing up. Yep he’s tired of lying in bed!
He’s also so lucid and together (though he still thinks he’s not). At several points during the day, we had long and complex conversations about things entirely unrelated to cancer, or surgery, or his body and how it feels. Seriously, folks. He’s amazing.
The bad or at least less fantastic news is, his incision point, though it is healing great, is not–um, there’s no way to say this without medical TMI, which I am going to leave to him. Which, I know he’d happily post about it, and with photos, diagrams, explanatory links and a caption contest, but the upshot is: he’ll likely be coming home Sunday instead of Saturday. And, after the whole thing was discussed in detail, I found that I was finished eating lunch. That is all.
The good news about *that* is that he’ll be in the hospital through the weekend, and he’ll be happy to have visitors (healthy, age 12 & up, etc etc). So, again, let me know–or let him know, he is on his computer occasionally already–and we’ll make it happen. He loves company.
Me: I’m tired, real tired, but good. It was a nice day today, with together-time with my partner. Even if he thinks he’s not himself. I beg to differ. 🙂
