Furtherage of Several Fronts

1. Swimming. I got to the pool today and did *four* lengths of crawl before I needed a “rest” length of breast-stroke; then spent the rest of my swim doing three lengths/one length. AND, I noticed that there were whole minutes at a time when I was able to let my mind wander and think about other things, instead of trying not to choke or drown or gasp for breath. Progress! Also, I skipped the hot tub after. I was plenty hot enough after all that exercise.

This gives me the thought that I might eventually begin working on refining my form. I am trying not to be a Splashy McSplashalot, but I fear that I am. Oh well.

2. Hobgoblin. I finished the new chapter 1 (though it still sucks) and started chapter 2 (and it sucks too). But, slowly, slowly, finding my way in…

3. Garden. I did go to the nursery, and bought a bunch of lovely things to put in pots. More on this in a moment, because the first thing I did was get out the big loppers and take away all the small and medium branches and all the foliage of the big ugly Weeping Whatever. Of course I forgot to take a “before” picture, but here’s the “after”:

La Enigma and her Consort have offered to help with the removal of the trunk and larger branches. But already, the space is so much more open! My secret hydrangea is no longer secret.

I had a few moments of thinking, Oh no, now I won’t have any more privacy. But, the thing wasn’t tall enough to give me privacy anyway: all it did was dominate that front bed and hide the hydrangea.

Then I continued working on my goal of having Lots Of Pots:

And also taught myself a valuable physics lesson involving the hose and newly planted pots, and how if you tug/yank the former too stridently against the latter on your way to water another pot, you are liable to tump it over altogether and create a big mess and need to plant it all over again. :/
