I’m back in Portland and wondering what happened to the heat…was that it? Summer over already? I hope not…I’ve still got a whole cherry tomato plant that is about to present me with its first ripe fruit, any day now…assuming we get a few more hot days.
(The other cherry has been producing FABULOUSLY. I almost can’t keep up. Yum!)
Anyway, I had a lovely time in Seattle, as usual. Mark and I went to his gym yesterday and I had him look at my swimming form (since this whole business was his suggestion in the first place) (though one which I’ve taken up with great enthusiasm and delight). He said my stroke looks pretty good, and he gave me some pointers on breathing that have really helped. The breath-every-three-strokes is getting more smooth. I’m now able to swim any number of lengths–four, five, six, I stopped counting–before needing a “rest” length. Progress!
We were so pleased with ourselves, being so good about going to the gym and all, that we had to go to dinner at Tilth. Incredible as ever. 🙂
And, not much else to report. Everything is alive and healthy here at the Witchnest Manor (thanks to La Enigma for watering while I was gone!). The matilija poppy is really growing–I’ll have to go take a picture tomorrow to show you. I ran around turning off ceiling fans and closing windows when I got home, because it’s no longer 90 degrees in here. :/ I mean, it’ll be easier to sleep, but, meh. I could put up with a little more heat, yes I could.
Oh and I met the new next-door neighbor. He has the same first name as the old next-door neighbor, so that makes things easier. How thoughtful of him. 🙂
