As promised, the Weeping Whatever met its demise yesterday. Here’s the Consort of La Enigma hard at work:
Then the trunk came down at last!
More work was needed, of course, for the stump and the roots…La Enigma and I supported the process by making cantaloupe icees, and by doing a little digging and pulling ourselves. Ultimately, we had a nice hole in the ground:
Which, of course, shall be filled with plants eventually. Already has a transplanted rose bush in it, but said bush is not terribly photogenic at the moment, so I’ll honor its modesty and wait till it’s pretty to show you.
Partway through the process, La Enigma glanced across the street and said, “Is that a real flower?” So we had to go over and investigate.
Yes indeed. That’s a real flower. Pretty dang cool.
After the garden-labors were finished, a splendid meal was enjoyed by all the toilers, and there was much rejoicing.

But the adventures do not cease there! Today I went out hiking with H. We had been hiking for quite a while by the time we got to this sign, which may be why we found it so amusing:
We chose to go up on “Difficult,” and down on “More Difficult” (it makes a loop). I think that was the right choice…an even better choice was the stop for ice cream on the way home. Well-deserved indeed. And there was much rejoicing. 🙂
