Sorry for no posting yesterday. Plans keep changing. After the busy-busy-busy weekend, it was decided that there needed–just NEEDED–to be some down time. So Mark didn’t go home on the train yesterday after all, but hung around here; and I’m going to Seattle with him tomorrow afternoon, for Foolscap this weekend. And then–jeez!–I’m going to Italy in a week! Gaah! Not! Ready!
But…the downtime has been very good. I got freelance work done (still more to do), and some work for my brother; and good gardening stuff done–divided and replanted some irises (still more to do there too), planted new iris bulbs from Seattle, went to the nursery today and got some cute ground cover things for the front and planted them–and, things like that.
And food! My goodness! Tonight, we discovered Lauro. Oh. My. God. And it’s in walking distance from my house. Evil. Deadly. Wow.
And….that cute little grey cat? The one I’m so delighted when he/she stops by? Well, he/she has decided I’m his/her mommy, I guess. It hung around all day yesterday, trying to come inside, and was yowling at the back door at 6am this morning, and was hanging around all day today, sleeping in one of my back deck pots this afternoon (one of the ones with only bulbs in it, which are dormant now). I would have taken a picture but I know the cat would have woken up if I’d gone outside…and wanted to come in….
I’m not sure what to do about this. I’m nice to the cat, but I haven’t fed it, or even given it water. It CAN’T live here, it just can’t. I’m not home enough, for one thing.
I’ve gone onto the internet and found a “lost pets” site, which had tons of pictures of hamsters with their large hamster wheel but none with a grey cat with white feet listed; so I think I’ll post a notice about it. It doesn’t seem like a feral or abandoned cat: it’s young and healthy, good coat, shiny eyes, seems perfectly healthy and socialized and friendly. If it is abandoned, it was abandoned really recently–this is not a cat that’s been living on the streets.
I’m hoping it’s just confused, or greedy, and will go home soon. And visit often–but without the mournful 6am wailing. :/ That’s not going to be viable for anyone, cat or me.
My neighbors moved out shortly after I moved in, and apparently left their cat behind; this LARGE feline has taken to scratching my screen door to be let in (by the way, this is a no-pet apt). What to do is certainly the question!
Yikes! That’s awful, how shameful of them. :/ The poor cat.
Some folks on my LJ suggested a few things to do: take the cat to the vet and see if it has a chip; or put a collar on it with a note that says “Apparently this cat is trying to adopt me: is it yours?” with your contact info. Though if you know whose cat it was, and they’re gone, then I guess you’re sort of SOL.
