Family Approval

It was a really, really nice Thanksgiving holiday, in several venues, with a whole bunch of family on both sides (Mark’s and mine). With, as I’m sure I’ve mentioned, far too much to eat, and lots of fun and laughter, and all that.

But what is staying with me, and what I don’t think I mentioned, is the really notable amount of approval and mutual enjoyment that we’re experiencing, from both sides. My family, most of whom have known Mark for a few years, really get along with him well and like him a lot. And his family, whom I have not known as long (they don’t travel as readily, and last week was the first time I’ve visited his parents’ home), are just delighted with me.

This is really cool. And it makes me aware of how…well, this is new. New for me, and new for Mark too.

I like it. Long may it last. 🙂

Today was a day of chores and whatnot, and then of buying new plants for the aquarium, which Mark has been planting–plus a few shrimp, which are floating in their bags now, ready to be introduced to the ecosystem. While we were away, some snails presented themselves, which is cool, and a good sign. They are darned ACTIVE snails too–rushing about in the tank, swimming here and there, eating algae. So much for stereotypes.

Tomorrow is Mark’s birthday, so I’m making him stick around. He’s back to Seattle on Wednesday, and I go to work as a realtor on Thursday. La!
