First Aquarium Death

Morris the Catfish, RIP.

I don’t know what happened–he was fine earlier today–but this evening after feeding time I noticed Beatrice flitting all about, and I realized I hadn’t seen Morris in a while…he was back behind his favorite piece of petrified wood (shown in the picture), and the shrimp had already found him.

So I’ve made with the ceremonial flushing, and there is much sorrow.

Although frankly? He was kind of a bully. In fact, I’d have put long odds on it being Beatrice I would lose. He was always chasing her around the tank, and her tail was always frayed.

Maybe she’ll have an easier time of it now.

Anyway. Sad. It’s not like he was a cuddly pet and sat in my lap or anything, but…I named him. He had very bright eyes, and an attitude. He was supposed to outgrow the tank and have to be given back to the store eventually. He was a living creature, and now he’s gone.
