I’m finding a pretty interesting book buried underneath the overwriting in Nightcraft Mother. At least so far. I’ve cut about 3,000 words (from the first two chapters), and tidied up some character-motivation issues, but am not really changing the story at all. At least so far. 🙂
I never saw any of this stuff when I wrote it, and rewrote it, and had it critiqued, and edited it, and re-edited it…
Time. What a wonderful gift, a precious resource. Time to let that book lie fallow until I could come to it with fresh eyes, and maybe even better skills.

I’m dividing my writing time between this work and proofing Mark’s book. His is much cleaner, but I am hoovering away quite an infestation of adverbs. Of course he may put them back in–it’s his book, he gets the final say–but, really, it’s so much better without them.

I made the most delicious chicken salad for dinner, and took a picture of it to show you, but the picture did it no justice, it just looked like a mayonnaise-y blob on a plate, so I deleted it. You’ll just have to take my word for it. Yum!
