Hiking Sunday

I did an urban hike today with Thirdworld and his friend N., because we’d been checking the weather reports all week, and mucking about up in the Gorge seemed contraindicated.

We chose well: we had, once again, All The Weathers. Snow, sleet, hail, rain, sun. Sometimes several of those things at once.

But it was awesome! We started in the Pearl District and headed westward, wending our way slowly uphill, eventually (after an hour and a half, and the aforementioned Weathers) ending up at the Pittock Mansion.

Here’s Thirdworld at the summit:

The hike down went quicker than the hike up. 🙂 We stopped for a well-deserved coffee, and then ran across an interesting art house (or gallery?) on the way back to the cars.

Then I came home and did absolutely nothing for the rest of the day.

In other news: Mark has made it to LA; his grueling work assignment starts tomorrow morning. He drove in pouring rain the whole way, over four separate days. And gas is $4.50 a gallon. But other than that, the trip went fine!
