1. Boy, we don’t do things by half measures around here. 85 degrees today and stunningly gorgeous. I still have a snow-scraper in the front seat of my car. It’s like, never mind spring, here’s summer!
2. Sometime in the night, the cichlid died. I have mixed feelings about this. This was the fish that I tried to net out of there, to take him back to the store, but never could catch him. He hunted the shrimp (though they eventually got used to him), harassed his mate (who I did take back to the store), and generally was just too big for the tank. But he was pretty. I’m sorry he suffered at the end–he was clearly sick for the last couple of days. I called the aquarium store yesterday to ask for advice. They said, Change 20% of the water and call us in the morning. Well, I changed the water, but didn’t call this morning. What would be the point? So, I’m sort of sad, and sort of relieved. I think the tank is much better balanced without him. But I wish I could have given him a better life.
3. I did an open house today. Twelve people, no new contact info. Breaking into real estate is hard.
4. I finished my editing pass on Nightcraft Mother–and in the process got a brilliant insight about the book, which I need to keep chewing on (if I do decide to incorporate it, it will go into back story and only show up overtly in the second book in the series–but it could be huge!). I am pleased with how the book ends. Now I just need to fix the beginning. And the middle. 🙂
5. Here, have some front-garden pictures:
These are some lovely little tulips, and some ground cover I like, and then a bunch of “volunteer” plants, that I’m waiting to see what they do before declaring them weeds or not.
This is the view from if you’re sitting on the front steps enjoying glass of wine after your open house.
6. How are all these unrelated things related? Well, they all happened today, to me. That is all.
