Officing (Officious-ing?)

It’s amusing to me that my response to the problem of “OMG I have too many THINGS” was to go out and buy some more THINGS.

But! Things of such wondrousness they were! And they are helping with the Containment of Things, and therefore they are Good.

Witness:

A desk, of sorts, or rather a surface, with tiny drawers: a surface upon which to do proofreading, made from an old sewing machine (and therefore VERY sturdy) (and quite attractive).

And:

A bookcase, for the containing of, you know, books.

And, um, I’m not sure quite how this happened….

But really, I needed the other things, I did. And the prices for all three things were so reasonable, that nearly-done project sitting on the sewing-machine-desk will pay for them all, and then some.

But that wasn’t all about today! I am really beginning to take seriously this I Have Too Much Stuff concept, and I brought a shopping bag upstairs, and told myself, “Take five shirts out of that drawer and put them in the bag for Goodwill,” and I did that and it was so easy, I made myself take a sixth. And I will keep doing that sort of thing with all the drawers, and then the closet, until some sort of order is restored here.

And furthermore, I got to the end of the chapter I’ve been stuck in, in Hobgoblin, for weeks and weeks now. Hurrah!

And further-furthermore, I went for my swim, and STILL the pool wasn’t full-up (I forgot to mention this yesterday, they partially drained the pool so they could do some work on it, so it’s too shallow and you scrape your knuckles on the bottom when you try to swim and it’s annoying), so I swam breast stroke instead, and it was strenuous and unaccustomed and very satisfying, and I think maybe I should incorporate breast stroke into my swimming even when they do fill up the pool.

And I think that’s about all I have to report. tI was a good day, and less difficult than yesterday, for which yay.
