Random for a Friday Night

I’m just saying: If you’re spam-marketing a proofreading service to bloggers, it’s probably not a good idea to have your email’s first line be:
Hi [FIRST NAME],
No matter how chatty and friendly the rest of the email has been carefully crafted to sound.

(And not even to mention that you’re offering said quality service to a professional proofreader.)

By the way, writing emails might be considered a forgotten art by people in general, but most businesses from the B2B and B2C industries still consider it as one of the most powerful marketing tactics to engage with their end audience and to drive sales and business growth. And another thing, completely unrelated: Dear guy in the next lane: please don’t interrupt my swim to compliment my steady dedication to my swim! Do I LOOK like I am here to chat? With my ear plugs in, my fogged-up goggles on, my face in the water, and my nonstop swimming? No, I don’t think so! Try the jacuzzi, afterwards. I’m happy to take compliments then.

Despite how this must sound, I’m actually quite cheerful at the moment. I had a good and productive day, after a rather extraordinary sleep-in–I woke at 7:30, thought, Huh, I’m still a little lazy, maybe I’ll doze a few more minutes; then woke again at 9:30. Unconscionable, even for a freelancer. But clearly I needed it.

The weather has been just lovely; it’s been a nice quiet few days; and Mark is coming back down tomorrow (yay!). Friends of his (and mine too, but he knows them better) are coming to town for a few days, and we are looking forward to that. I’ve been working hard on writing up the notes of our Nightcraft World Conference; haven’t started the editing yet, as the notes-writing was larger than I realized. Eight pages single-spaced, and I’m not done yet. Also, finished a freelance job (speaking of proofreading).

So, yeah, no real complaints, other than the small and amusing ones. And now to go and read.
