Well! Lots going on around here. Where to start?
With my new cover art, of course! (Although if you’re on Facebook, you might have seen it yesterday.) Mark finished the cover for Our Lady of the Islands, and it’s AMAZING. Here, look:
I’m stoked. It’s so right, I…yeah. He got it.
My task now is to make the book awesome enough to merit this cover. 🙂 I am happy to report that work is going well on that! I’m about to finish revising another scene tonight; that will make six (and a half) good, polished scenes. Out of thirty-seven and a half. But hey. Progress!
Now let’s see. What else? Oh, yes, my Book View Cafe collection! Eastlick and Other Stories. It came out as an e-book last fall, but now it’s available in print! I have some of the copies here with me right now. VERY PRETTY. You want one, don’t you? You know you do.
But wait, there’s more. News, anyway–I’m done selling things. 😉 For now, heheh.
So remember last year how the deck was turning into soil?
Well it’s even worse now, and so we’re going to have it replaced. We’ve been meeting with the contractor since last fall, getting plans drawn up, and continuing to add things–like a greenhouse, and several levels, and all that–and so we got the cost estimate yesterday, and were like NO I DON’T THINK SO.
But the clever contractor refused to be daunted, and we kept talking, and Mark mentioned how he’s willing to help out with the labor in order to save money; so the contractor whipped out his calculator, and if Mark works full-time on the job (starting with doing the demolition by himself, as soon as we get home from California!), then the cost magically returns to what we can (barely) afford.
So I’m marrying a construction worker. 😉 He got started today, beginning to move all the marble chunks off the driveway, so that the truck can get in for the demolition. He’s very tired.
And, one final thing: today is day 14 of the South Beach Diet, which means Phase 1 thus endeth…..which means WINE TOMORROW!!! Not that I was, you know, missing it or anything. Not every single moment, anyway.
