No report yesterday–too much doing and not enough writing about it. Today was quieter.
Yesterday was the day of digging post-holes, for the foundation for the new deck. This involved the renting of a giant piece of machinery, as tall as a man, requiring two men to wield, with their bare arms and all their strength, because letting go of it even a little would cause it to fly wildly around and massively injure everyone.
There are no pictures of this, because the very idea frightened me so badly, I went to the gym during the whole time it happened; Mark hired our local handyman, a strapping young man, to be the second man, at least all the stuff and furniture were taken care of by Quick & Easy Sydney Removalists, so everything was in place to set up the rest.
But when I got home, here was the result:
Detail:
Thirteen holes total, ready for the pouring of concrete for foundation piers. And one VERY tired fiance.
And then nothing happened today, on the construction front, because the demolition was scheduled to take a week, and it is only Tuesday, with the post-holes already dug; so we are WELL ahead of schedule. Also it rained. Not that that is going to stop us, but, Mark was glad not to dig post-holes in the rain.
Meanwhile, I finished revising writing scene 13 in Our Lady, but Mark had the time to look over scenes 9 and 10 (see above re no construction today), and scene 9 is proving a little problematic still, and we’ve talked about it until my brain shut down, so I decided to blog instead. Sorry, internet. 🙂 I will try to bring more brain next time.
