Tired; And Other Ruminations

I had one of those nights last night, where you wake up at 4am and fret about everything, and think about the next scene in the novel you’re rewriting, and fidget, and worry about money, and think about your to-do list, and wonder if you shouldn’t just get up anyway; and nearly fall back asleep but at 5:15 a freakin’ HELICOPTER flies over the house like about ten feet above it; and you don’t go back to sleep till after 6:30, and your fiance the construction worker gets up at 7 to work on the deck, and then you wake up and it’s suddenly after 9:30 and you feel drugged and stupid and half the day is gone.

Like that.

And then I had one of those days where the four pages–FOUR PAGES–of this scene was like pulling teeth, and I think it’s okay now, but I wrote most of it, and tore it all back apart again, and wrote it again, and cut and pasted and erased and rewrote, and went and read Captain Awkward, and all the comments on Captain Awkward, and then some past posts’ comments too.

Anyway. Speaking of money. Wanna go to WorldCon? I gotcher discount memberships right here. We signed up when were still in the giddy rush of having enjoyed London SO MUCH last October, and OF COURSE we’d figure out a way to get back there for WorldCon…but, nope. Not with a deck and a wedding to pay for…on only freelance and writing income.

And speaking of the deck, most of the decking is down now, but I didn’t take any pictures, because see above.

I don’t usually comment on the “oh woe is LiveJournal, the death of LiveJournal” stuff, because, okay, I blog here on my website but almost all my comments come on LiveJournal, and I still am on LJ every day, refreshing all day; and, I just thought I’d mention, it’s not nearly as dead as all that. Old friends are resurfacing. More people are posting. I’ve added new friends. This morning, I actually had to go back a screenful, because MORE THAN TWENTY new posts had appeared since I’d last looked at LJ. (Of course, maybe that was the whole sleeping-past-9:30 thing…) And now that the Most Recent Ex doesn’t mirror to LJ any more, it’s even more…I’m not going to finish that sentence. Anyway: this is just to say, go LJ…? Yay?

And I’m going to bed now, because see above. Both farther-above and immediately-above. Obviously I’m quite exhausted.
