I was out fiddling around in the garden, and happened to check on the Area of Awful Destruction, and found this!
Sorry it’s a bit fuzzy, but I wanted to get close enough so you could see the new growth! Some is long enough to make a shadow. There are three new shoots (I’m not sure they all show up in the picture, but I promise, they’re there). Yay!
My stepdad did say he thought it would probably regenerate. I’m so glad he turned out to be right. 🙂
Also, there’s blackberries:
These grow through the fence from the neighbor’s yard. I ate all the ripe ones after I took the picture; I’ll cut it all back after the rest of them ripen and I eat them. I do understand about horrible invasive vines, yes I do; but I also understand about DELICIOUS BLACKBERRIES OM NOM NOM. (And oh they were good!)
In other news, I made another incredibly delicious salad from my cherry tomatoes, my basil, and Trader Joe’s mozzarella. I could REALLY get used to this whole eating-from-my-yard business.
In other-other news, today was the day for Cleaning All The Things. I laundered and vacuumed and tidied (some) and proofread (a form of cleaning) and weeded (ditto) and trimmed and all that. There’s still way more to do, but that was a good start.
In other-other-OTHER news, I bought my first pair of reading glasses today. It’s the beginning of the end…….. all downhill from here. I was squinting at a menu in Spokane last week, so Mark said, “Here, try these,” and handed over his reading glasses…and damned if the menu didn’t suddenly get clear and visible. Alas! These glasses work great, too. Just cheap drugstore ones, but, wow, what a difference.
Sigh.
