Going Swimmingly

Well I must have learned something yesterday, because today I got to the pool and was able to do three whole lengths in crawl-stroke right out of the gate. Then I was entirely out of breath, so I began doing one breast-stroke length alternating with two crawl-stroke lengths, like how I ended up yesterday. It was a LOT of exercise, but I did it for my whole forty minutes, and it felt pretty good.

It struck me that I am now using for rest the thing I did for exercise before. That has to be good.

Another indication is that I’m wishing the pool was colder. And I’m not so much enjoying the hot tub afterwards: it’s TOO hot.

So yay. 🙂

Annoyingly, I had trouble sleeping last night. For SOME reason, my body hurt everywhere, and even Advil didn’t help much. I’m not surprised. Not only did I do extra-strenuous swimming, but I also had gone to my first yoga class in a week and a half, and I’d put in a pretty serious hour in the garden, with digging up of treelike things and whatnot. So, yeah. Everything hurt.

But I am happy to report that the novel-work is going a bit better. I’m still working on writing the new chapter one; got two more scenes done today, plus went over yesterday’s scene. They’re still pedestrian and dull, and they may not end up in the novel at all, but it’s flowing a bit better. I’m a little more comfortable with the characters and the situation. And tomorrow I’ll jump back in again…back into the pool, and back into the story.

And maybe reward myself with a trip to the nursery if I’m very, very good. 🙂
