Well, despite the fact that I would really rather be somewhere else, it’s actually pretty nice here. Soft landing, I have to say.
The bed was spectacularly comfortable; I slept like a dead thing for about five hours, then laid awake for three (read a while), then got a couple more hours of sleep–and since I’d gone to bed so early, that got me up about 7, Chicago time. I went to the hotel gym and they actually have a little yoga corner, with a hardwood floor–first time I’ve seen that! Then back to the room for a shower OH MY GOD SHOWER AHHHHH, and then down for breakfast. I decided it was all right to overspend my voucher, and had a delightful lox-bagel-capers-onion-tomato concoction, and about fourteen cups of coffee.
Now, back to the room; my flight is not till mid-afternoon, so I asked for a later checkout. I’ll use my last voucher for lunch before taking the shuttle to the airport, and with any luck, I’ll be in Portland for dinner. Meanwhile, I can make a few blog posts. 🙂 I’ve got some photos from the last day of the trip, and then I want to do an overall summary of the trip, but that one may wait till I get home, and I’m not seeing the whole experience through the lens of how it ended.
Anyway, I feel cheerful and rested and clean now. Even if my clothes are all funky and wrinkled and I had to wash a pair of underwear in the sink…
