Nothing Is Simple, Part II

Despite my best efforts, and two trips to the hardware store, I do not have new numbers installed on my house today.

In fact, I have no numbers there at all right now (which I’m sure is illegal or at least inadvisable)…I’m stuck with a partly-dismantled old-number scenario, stuck halfway, no going forward, no going back.

Tomorrow I shall seek out a new backing to mount the tiles on….the old backing simply WILL NOT LET GO of the old numbers. Stripped tiny screws, sunk deeply into the plastic and wood, all rusted. Even my jewelry-making pliers wouldn’t budge them. Meh! And there I’d bought paint and all, to make it pretty.

_______________

Despite all that, and despite a good deal of cat-vacuuming (some of which was actually necessary and welcome, and some of which was mah-jong), I’ve gotten four pages into the new collaborative-with-Mark short story. It’s already outlined, so it was easier than starting from scratch, but I still had a surprising bit of inertia to overcome. Well, it has been a while since I’ve written anything. I think it’s good work. I’ll see if I still think that tomorrow.

Right now I think it’s bedtime.
