On Being Here Or There

Wow, I will so totally NOT miss the weather-full drive to Seattle. The RAINING SO HARD YOU CANNOT SEE moments that just sort of spring up out of nowhere.

Which is to say: I’m in Seattle. Well and Mark is too (though we drove separately, because reasons). His apartment is half-empty, because by the end of this week it will be entirely empty, because all his things will be in Portland.

(for which, YAY!!! A thousand times YAY!)

But before then, we’re off to Orcas Island tomorrow, to spend a few days at the inn we’re going to be substitute innkeepers for, learning the ropes and figuring out how to do the laundry and what restaurants and shops are going to be open over the winter on the island, and preparing practice-breakfasts for the innkeepers and actually some Real Unsuspecting Guests (poor things), because we don’t know how much overlap (if any) we’ll have when we get up there in November. Because (again) reasons.

So that’s what’s going on.

And, wow, thanks you-all, for all those fascinating and insightful comments on my post of yesterday. I’d been pondering that, and wanting to talk about it, but trying to figure out how to do so without sounding all I DON’T WATCH TV AND THAT MEANS I’M BETTER THAN YOU, which is SO not where I’m coming from…and I’m so happy to see that (at least those of you who responded) didn’t seem to think I was coming from that place either! So, yay.

And now it’s dinnertime. Yays all around.
