So here we are on Orcas Island, learning how to be innkeepers. I cleaned a room this morning. Mark learned a very, VERY complicated way of making coffee. This afternoon we shopped in town and met some local business folk, and tomorrow we’re making breakfast for Actual Guests.
And oh by the way, in case you’re thinking we’re slaving away in abject misery here, this is the view from the front window of an evening:
Also our Real Innkeepers introduced us to marvelous neighbors, and hosted a dinner party this evening where we met even more marvelous neighbors.
It’s going to be an interesting winter. We’re excited! We’re staying in the room which will be our quarters for the winter, which is like a small apartment (and MUCH larger than Mark’s soon-to-be-former apartment, I might add): very cozy. And it’s nice to be able to envision how it’s going to be.
Tomorrow: more training (in addition to the cooking-of-breakfast). And maybe even a little down time, who knows? It could happen.
