Well I won’t miss that drive, in The Weathers.
We are having something of a rainstorm here in the Pacific Northwest. At first Mark and I didn’t quite get it, all the national (and international!) news that “rain in Seattle” was getting. Like, really? This is news why?
But actually, yes, this has been Some Weather. I drove down to Portland today, with a Miata-full of stuff, and UGH it was one of THOSE drives. Standing water on the freeway, long stretches of hardly being able to see, short stretches of NOT SEEING AT ALL, accidents here and there…very scary. At one point I was seriously considering getting off the freeway and waiting it out; the only thing that stopped me was that I’d have to get across several lanes of traffic (that I couldn’t see) to get to an offramp. So I clutched the steering wheel and went on.
Eventually it eased up a bit; the second half of my drive was all right. But, ugh. I will NOT miss this trip in the rain.
Hopefully, by the time Mark comes down tomorrow, it’ll be even more eased up. He was briefly considering driving down tonight after his dinner engagement, but…a car FULL of stuff (really, not another thin mint could fit into the Subaru), a tired Mark (moving and apartment-cleaning is hard!), and dark and rain? Nope. So he will stay with EB and drive down in the morning.
Meanwhile, I am utterly exhausted. But not too tired to point you to this interview I did, about the anthology! 🙂 Check it out! I’m going to have another glass of wine now. I’ve earned it.
