37 Scenes

Busy last few days! I got the outline of Our Lady worked out, in numbered scenes. 37 of them, to be precise–well, 37 and a half, to be even more precise. And I’ve started making the scenes happen. Scene 1 was an entirely new scene; scene 2 was a pare-down rewrite of existing material, as was scene 2.5. Scene 3 starts with new material and then becomes an edit. I’ll work on that tomorrow.

And thus, in a small paragraph, you see my last few days. Well, plus some freelance work, and a swim or two and some yoga, and…yeah, that was about it.

Meanwhile, Mark has finished the cover art for the book. We will post it as soon as we get publisher approval… it’s GORGEOUS. Not that I’m biased or anything, but, oh. Yeah.

_____________

No, wait, there’s more to report! I think I’ve actually, really truly finally, got the health care stuff worked out. I’ve had several people in a row now, people in a position to make such statements with some authority, assure me that a) Mark and I are both in Kaiser, under the new system, b) we won’t be charged ANY premiums for this coverage, c) our old expensive Kaiser plans have been canceled, and d) I should even get a refund for February’s premiums. I’m feeling more on the “optimistic” side of cautiously optimistic. But BOY, was that a journey!

Seriously, this thing, affordable (FREE?!) health care? That’s going to make it a whole lot more possible for Mark and me to continue to do this whole writing and editing and making-art life. We work so hard, for so little money…we love this work, but you also gotta pay the bills and eat and stuff. A thousand bucks a month not spent on health insurance is going to be huge. So, YAY.
