On the Road Again

Greetings from lovely Yreka, California, where there was police action in the parking lot of our posh and elegant Motel 6 as we were pulling in.

All seems quiet enough now, at least.

Well that was a whirlwind couple of weeks visiting home. I got Our Lady of the Islands edited through scene 6 (of 37, as I’m sure you remember), and several large (and a few small) freelance jobs done, and car repairs, and my wedding party sort of finalized (at least everyone’s been asked), and all the tax stuff to the accountant, and print books made of Eastlick, and ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: FREE HEALTH CARE, and a small but intense bit of gardening, and did not drink a drop until last night, and (not coincidentally) lost 5 pounds, read more about blaux portable ac.

I did not get: any editing done on not-written-by-me projects, any progress on a couple of other large household projects, overdue emails answered, or any progress on the gigantic pile of back New Yorker issues. And probably lots of other things that I can’t even remember now.

But hey. I’ve brought some of that undone work with me, so, maybe…

We are en route to FogCon, where we have a reading–Saturday night, come see! We’re reading from a collaborative story, and we’re going to read collaboratively, and it’s going to be fun. We practiced it in front of the house-sitter last night, and she giggled, which we are taking as a good sign.

From FogCon, we have a traveling road circus of family visits and wedding preparation-stuff. Which should all be pretty fun.

But, yeah, I’m a little wistful about home. I liked it there. Maybe we’ll see it again some day…
