Thursday Notes: #1
I water the orchids every Thursday. I carry them from their decorative pots and put them in the bathtub, and give them a nice drenching, and let them drain before I put them away.
Sometimes I don’t get to it on Thursdays. Sometimes it’s Friday, or even the weekend, but I can’t let it go too long, or they will suffer. When I do let it slip, I try to get back on schedule, because it’s easy to remember to water on Thursdays.
It occurs to me that sending out a little note on Thursdays might work the same way.

I used to blog pretty much every day and I really, really enjoyed that. I also used to read a lot of blogs. I don’t do so much of either of those things any more. Perhaps there’s a connection.

Then I tried to get a newsletter going. I think I sent two of them. “Buy my book” might have been a thing that was said. Then I got busy. Oh, so busy. Everyone is busy. Right? Everyone I know is.
But I still like to read. And I still like to write. And I still have cool things that I want you to know about, like how we moved to this fantastic remote island, and we had a gorgeous pair of wood ducks show up in our pond last Saturday morning, and just a few weeks ago a neighbor’s rescue cow, a shaggy Highland Coo, escaped and came to live in our yard for a while before they finally staked her out and caught her and returned her to her rightful home. Now we’ve planted wildflowers in the churned-up muddy field where she was corralled before they trucked her off.
And books. I still write books. I will even still tell you about them.
Meanwhile, I’m going to water the orchids in the bathtub every week, and try to write some notes, and see how it goes.
