Back in San Francisco. Cold: yep. Foggy: yep. ‘Nuff said.

Immediately after my reading on Saturday, while I was still in the throes of adrenalin and gratitude at being finished, two nice people from Seattle Geekly interviewed me for their podcast. I hope I was reasonably coherent, though no promises. I’ll put up the link when it goes live (i.e. after they edit out all the rambling and other nonsense). Actually they interviewed all of us Grants Passers who were there. So that should be cool.

Speaking of Grants Pass, our lovely editrix posts about the reading here. And this gives me the opportunity to thank her once more for the lovely hospitality, hanging-out time, and feline fun.

Dept. of The Foolishness of Tiny Cars: I am getting really sick and tired of thinking my car has been stolen, just because I cannot see it next to other, more normal-sized vehicles. But no, I do not regret my decision. Once I did manage to find it in the airport parking lot, one row over from where I was certain I had parked it, I enjoyed greatly driving to the Witchnest. Having driven the Genre car from Seattle to Portland, I have to say: my car ROCKS.

On Steampunkery and Related Thoughts: the wedding yesterday, between agrathea and thirdworld, was billed as a steampunk wedding, and oh my, was it delightful! The bride and groom were both adorable, gorgeous, clever, and veritable feasts for the eyes. The vows they exchanged brought tears to my eyes, they were so lovely. The food–potluck–was incredible, the band was fantastic–it was a great, great wedding.
But as I drank and ate and wept and danced and laughed and just generally thoroughly enjoyed myself, I looked around at all the gathered guests, many of whom had bedecked themselves in full-on steampunkery, and I realized, Oh, this is Fae. I mean, totally: braids and beads and pearls and color and lace and ribbons and locks and chains and combat boots and little spectacles and top hats and goggles and gears and random gorgeous frippery of all kinds: that’s Fae magic. I GET it. 🙂 I love it.
Then I didn’t blow-dry my hair today, letting it fall in its wavy curls. What’s next: braiding pearls into it? Maybe!

Anyway, it was a fantastic weekend, and I’m glad to be home. I miss Jay already. The orchids are in the sink, I’ve talked to my mom, I’ve gotten word that my brother has safely arrived in Shanghai, I’ve worked half a day at the Day Jobbe, I’ve halfway unpacked, I’ve grocery-shopped, and even found parking twice, within the same zip code as the Witchnest. Word count, you ask? Maybe…soon…we’ll see.

Um. But there is dinner. Um. Right.
It was lovely having both of you there to share our wedding day with us and we both loved reading your blog comments on the wedding. Thanks so much.
